Known as the "Chinaware Capital of the World," today Jingdezhen is a city of 1.4 million with many ceramic factories and clay ore sites. Almost 10 percent of the residents are employed in the ceramics industry, which can be traced back to the Han Dynasty. This beautiful area is rich in many natural resources and new industries, but like so many orphanages around China, the needs faced by the Jingdezhen orphanage are greater than the resources they have available to meet them.
