Leping is in northeast Jiangxi Province and is about 20 miles south of Jingdezhen. Leping is smaller than Jingdezhen with a total population of approximately 800,000. The area around Leping is rich agriculturally and minerally, but this is still a relatively poor area economically. Although Leping was already providing formula to their children, we began underwriting the cost of the orphanage’s formula in March of 2007, thereby enabling the orphanage to use the money they would have spent on formula for other projects.
