Seasons Greetings!
This has been a year of surgeries, miracles, prayer and amazing recoveries. Here are three recent examples.
Addison had a serious heart condition, so serious that she would not have survived a trip abroad for surgery. There was no choice but to have a local hospital do it. The surgery went well but later that night her blood pressure dropped and internal bleeding became a problem. The hospital planned to open her up again and do emergency surgery. Addison¡¯s prospects were not good. We prayed and got our friends to agree with us in prayer. The next thing we heard from the hospital was that her pressure had gone up and the bleeding had stopped and she no longer needed the surgery. A week after major heart surgery Addison was released from the hospital.
Olivia, who is 3 years old, was just recently abandoned; probably because her parents knew they could not obtain the medical care Olivia needed to save her life. Olivia had 2 holes in her heart; a VSD of 32 mm and an ASD of 10 mm -- by far the largest VSD we've ever faced. When she arrived, Olivia's heartbeat was 40 beats per minute (normal is 100-120), making it necessary that we send her to the hospital right away. At the hospital, the staff found that while she was sleeping, the rate would drop to a dangerously low level. When meeting with the surgeon, he told us that normally children with this severe heart condition do not live beyond 1 month after birth. Going into major heart surgery while also grieving the loss of her family and handling the stress of multiple moves in 6 months, little Olivia faced a tremendous hurdle, and we were all concerned about whether or not she had the will to live. Again we asked for folks to join us in praying for her. We've learned that she is a fighter, and the surgery was a big success. They were able to correct both problems, and they installed a permanent pacemaker. Olivia has a hope and a bright future, and we can't wait to see what it holds.
William had Spina bifida and Chiari ll surgery. The surgery went well. We were told to watch for rapid head growth, and sure enough just a week after surgery his head began to grow rapidly. He was returned to the hospital for emergency surgery to drain the fluids and reduce pressure. Somewhere in his brain it was bleeding but they could not determine where. Again our concern level rose and again we made it a matter of prayer and again after prayer the bleeding stopped. He is doing well and can now be scheduled for hydrocephalus surgery.

Annie, Emma, Naomi, Aaron, and Camille all had cleft lip and palate surgeries.
Hudson had hypospadia surgery.
Our NEW ARRIVALS this time around are Frank, Peter, Addison, Cheryl, Olivia, Andrea, and Heidi.
Those recently ADOPTED were Skyla, Rachel and Daniel who is leaving this week. Daniel, you may remember is the little boy who they said would never walk. He gets around really well and is so excited that his new mom and dad will be here soon.

Our new preschool expansion is almost complete. We are very pleased with how it¡¯s turning out.
More kids have joined our FORMULA PROJECTS. Close to 90 children in the four projects are receiving the nourishment and attention they desperately need. We are glad to report that there has been a decrease in the rate of mortality.
