Salary

With a TEFL, TESL or TESOL Certificate only:  Starting at 3,000 rmb ~ $440 per month
With a Bachelor’s Degree:  Starting at 3,500 rmb ~ $500 per month
With a Master’s Degree:  Starting at 4,000 rmb ~ $580 per month
With a Doctorate:  Starting at 4,500 ~ $660 per month

• Salaries are paid on the 25th of each month through direct deposit to the teacher’s bank account within China.  Teachers are responsible for transferring funds from their bank in China to their bank in their home country.
• NDLC will assist teachers in setting up a bank account in the Agricultural Bank of China.
• The first salary pay day will be September 25th although teachers are expected to arrive in late July to early August for orientation/training, preparation so they can adjust to the time difference and settle into housing and life in China.

Housing First Year
For the first year, New Day provides housing for teachers. These apartments are located near New Day. They are fully furnished, and our staff is happy to provide any assistance with maintenance issues and any other needs related to your apartment.

Housing Second Year and Beyond
For the second year of teaching, teachers may choose to live in housing provided by New Day or to arrange their own housing. Housing provided by New Day will be the same as the above. A monthly housing allowance of 1,000 rmb ~ $150 per month will be paid to teachers wanting to arrange their own housing. The housing allowance will be paid for each full-time teacher in the household and will be added to the teacher’s monthly salary.

When acquiring their own housing, the teacher is responsible for negotiations with landlords if the apartment is rented, leased or purchased. The teacher is also responsible for furnishing their own apartment and setting up the utilities. The teacher is responsible for all the set up and furnishing of their apartment. New Day will assist the teacher but the teacher is ultimately responsible for housing issues.

In Country Transportation
New Day is happy to pick up teachers at the airport once per school year at the expense of the school. Additional trips to the airport are the responsibility of the teacher.

Each full-time or salaried part-time teacher will receive stipend for transportation into Beijing. This will be added to the teacher’s salary each month and can be used at the teacher’s discretion.

New Day provides transportation to and from all school events and activities held at locations other than the New Day Learning Center campus.

• Stipend:  300 rmb ~ $45 per month
• This stipend is provided to assist the teacher with transportation in and out of Beijing.
• Teachers are able to use this stipend to travel to Beijing by car and driver, bus, subway or train

Moving and Travel Bonus
Each full-time will be given a bonus each year. This bonus can be used for an airplane ticket or at the teacher’s discretion. Half of this bonus will be given upon arrival to Beijing to help the teacher with moving costs. The second half of the bonus will be given at the end of the school year.

Returning teachers will be eligible for a salary increase of up to 10%, based on the teacher’s performance and the financial situation of the school.

• Amount:  8,000 rmb ~ $1,175 per year
• Half paid during August (Arrival)
• Half paid with salary in June (End of Contract)
• Airplane tickets are the responsibility of the teacher.  The travel bonus can be used for this purpose or at the discretion of the teacher

Insurance
All teachers are required to obtain international medical insurance that covers emergency medical evacuation expenses. The school cannot cover the costs associated with an emergency medical evacuation and the teacher will be solely responsible for any and all such expenses.

The school will provide basic accident insurance for teachers at local Chinese facilities. Teachers who want or need access to medical care at foreign clinics and hospitals will need to be prepared to cover those expenses either directly or through international medical insurance.

• Coverage is for accidents that occur within China. 
• The Chinese insurance company sets payout limits. 
• Coverage is for treatment at regional-level Chinese hospitals.
• Teachers are responsible for obtaining and paying for international medical insurance with emergency medical evacuation and return of remains clauses, life insurance and any other desired insurance.

Visa and Other Documentation

• NDLC will cover reasonable costs associated with obtaining a work visa, including the invitation letter, medical checks, the cost of the visa and the cost of using a visa agency. 
• Please contact NDLC with questions regarding the definition of reasonable costs.
• Medical checks obtained in the teacher’s home country will need to be paid for by the teacher.  NDLC will directly pay the cost of medical checks in China.
• NDLC will reimburse the cost of the medical check with the presentation of the proper receipts. 
• NDLC will not reimburse the cost of rush delivery unless the school does not send the invitation in time and a rush is required to obtain the visa in time.

• Teaching Salary and Benefits Package is for the benefit of the NDLC teacher only.
• Costs for the teacher’s family members will need to be covered by the teacher.
• These costs will include those for:
• Getting visas
• In-country transportation
• Family travel expenses
• Accident and other insurance expenses, and
• Housing costs over the stipend amount provided by the school.
