New Day Volunteer Services

There is a lot of joy in these three weeks, but it is a deep joy. It is not just the joy of seeing the Great Wall and the Forbidden City and shopping for funky suits, weird watches and indescribable doodads; it is a joy of doing something important, and of doing it together in a powerful community. We will be truly sad to leave this place, with its babies, caregivers, students, volunteers and staff, and our lives are bound to be changed when we return to our communities at home.

We are excited to receive volunteers and teams any time of year and for any length of time. We have an application process for all interested volunteers. Consideration for acceptance is not based solely on vocational qualifications or educational achievements. An applicant’s calling is strongly considered in the decision-making process.

TEAMS

If you would like to bring a group to come and serve at New Day, please Contact Us for availability. Please note that the summer months (May through August) fill up very quickly, so you will want to book at least eight months in advance. We do not require an application for each team member, but we will email you a brief questionnaire to learn more about your group.

Our Guest House can accommodate groups of up to 25 people. If you bring a smaller team, your team will have your own sleeping rooms, but you may need to share the common areas (living room, kitchen, etc.) with another volunteer team. INDIVIDUALS

Summer
Because of the high number of applicants, all individuals who are interested in coming to serve in the summer must apply through our Summer Internship Program. This program is terrific if you are looking for college credit for your internship or if you would like a structured volunteer experience. We have specific volunteer positions to which you can apply, and there are three pre-set volunteer sessions, beginning in mid May.

Winter - Spring - Fall
For most of the year, we can be quite flexible and are able to bring in volunteers for varying lengths of time. You can consider coming to serve for one week, up to even a year or more. Through our application process, you can indicate how long you would like to serve, and you can choose to volunteer in a variety of area. These volunteer opportunities are less structured than the Summer Internship Program but also provide a very meaningful and tailor-made experience.

The pricing for housing and other expenses varies on how long you are able to serve and what housing we have available during that time. We are happy to provide more information once we hear when you would like to come and how long you are able to serve.
